From May 23-25 and June 21-22, 2018, CCIM with financial support from FOJO Media Institute has conducted a training course on “Development Journalism: Investigative Reporting on Economic Development” attended by 12 professional journalists in Phnom Penh from different media houses ranging from TV, Radio, print newspaper and online news, and including two citizen journalists from the provinces.

The training aims to provide Cambodian mid-career journalists the investigative journalism techniques for reporting on local and regional development challenges and to develop their capacity to produce quality investigative reports on economic development issues. It is hoped that these journalists can bring back these practical skills and knowledge to their workplace and ultimately elevate the quality of news coverage on economic development issues.

During the training, the participants expressed that they have learned quite a lot from the senior trainers, lecturers and experienced journalists in the country as well as from experts working in the economic development sectors. As a result, the course was successfully completed with a smile from all participants who have gained and improved their understanding and knowledge on economic development reporting.

Moreover, after the training the participants are challenged to complete their investigative and in-depth reports they have started during the training within a month to be published by CCIM. They will be provided with story grants once their stories are chosen for publication.
