 Almost a hundred journalists, including representatives from non-governmental organization (NGO), academe, and government ministries and agencies joined together in a conference called"Cambodian Media: Promotion of Professionalism and Ethics" organized by the Cambodian Center for Independent Media (CCIM) and Press Council of Cambodia (PCC) with support from the European Union

H.E. Thach Phen, Secretary of Ministry of Information delivered his opening remarks after Mr. Seth Van Doorn, Political Advisor to the European Commission's Delegation to Cambodia welcomed the participants. After the opening speeches, a panel discussion followed with Mr. Om Chandara, PCC President who talked about "Professionalism: Problems and Resolutions"; Mr. Teruo Jinnai. UNESCO Representative in Cambodia who talked about "Journalism Ethics: Problems and Resolutions"; and Stephen Kurczy and Claire Duffet, both journalists and lecturers at Royal University ofPhnom Penh (RUPP) who talked about "Objectivity of Cambodian Media."

After the panel discussion, the participants continue their discussions into small groups. Three groups were formed to discuss about the priority issues and recommendations related to professionalism and ethics in Cambodian media.

"Let's Use Natural Fertilizer" Wins the Radio Drama Contest! PDF Print E-mail

The radio drama entitled "Let's Use Natural Fertilizer" written by Im Rachny has won the first prize of the Radio Drama Contest sponsored by the Cambodian Center for Independent Media (CCIM) with fund support from the Bilateral Programme Fund of the British Embassy.  The judging and announcement of winners was held on June 11, 2009 in a Conference on Granting Reward to Write a Short Story Related to Climate Change at the Imperial Garden Village and Hotels, Phnom Penh.

Im Rachny's drama is one of the ten shorlisted radio drama script entries produced radio dramas and aired over   Radio Sarika FM 106.5 in Phnom Penh and Radio Sarika Angkor95.5 in Siem Reap, both operated by CCIM, during the radio program "Earth Talk" broadcast from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday and replayed during the "Green Life" program of Radio Sarika FM 106.5 from Monday to Friday 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.

Radio Drama on Climate Change PDF Print E-mail

On April 1, 2009, the “Earth Talk” radio program produced by VOD began airing the ten radio dramas on climate change on Radio Sarika FM 106.5MHz in Phnom Penh and FM95.5 MHz in Siem Reap. The ten radio dramas were chosen from among the 35 radio drama scripts submitted by the students. The shortlisted radio dramas undergone editing and request for revisions from the writers before they were produced into radio dramas by the VOD team.
